SAMHSA on National Action Alliance on Suicide Prevention

Participants spoke about suicide prevention efforts. They said mental health and substance abuse was a public health issue which should be confronted by destigmatizing mental illness and suicide. They focused on an initiative where the department of Health and Human Services would provide nearly $56 million in new grants to support the national strategy. The program would set new standards for doctors to earn incentive payments and also hire additional 1,600 mental professionals.
