The Danya Institute Launches “Unity in Recovery” Virtual Series for National Recovery Month
SILVER SPRING, MD — In honor of National Recovery Month this September, The Danya Institute, Inc. is announcing the launch of “Unity in Recovery,” a groundbreaking cross-center educational initiative. The collaborative effort brings together three leading regional resource centers to offer four specialized, interactive virtual training sessions designed to support individuals, families, and behavioral health providers. The Central East Addiction Technology Transfer Center (ATTC), the Central East Prevention Technology Transfer Center (PTTC), and the Opioid Response Network (ORN)—and simplifies participation by providing a single, integrated registration system accessible across all centers.
National Recovery Month (NRM) is a dedicated time to honor the resilience of individuals on the path to recovery and the families who support them. It also recognizes the contributions of behavioral health providers and reinforces the powerful message that recovery is possible. First introduced in 1989 by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) as “Treatment Works! Month,” the observance has since expanded into a nationwide campaign that highlights not only recovery from substance use disorders but also the importance of addressing mental health. NRM is an opportunity to amplify personal recovery journeys, elevate the voices of loved ones and their allies, and underscore the vital role that prevention, treatment, and ongoing support play in strengthening communities.
Through this collaborative effort, we are streamlining access to vital education and reinforcing that recovery is achievable for everyone,” said Oscar Morgan, Executive Director at The Danya Institute. “By uniting our prevention, treatment, recovery, and resources for opioid use disorder into a series, we are encouraging collaboration and lifting recovery through connection.
During the month, a range of events, activities, and outreach efforts are held to promote the understanding that addiction, while complex, is a treatable condition. These initiatives aim to empower those affected by substance use disorders to reach out for the help and support they need.
These 90-minute interactive sessions (10:00 – 11:30am) will take place across four consecutive Tuesdays. The Central East PTTC will kick things off on September 1, 2026, with “Hope in Action: Connecting Prevention, Recovery, and Youth Leadership.” The ORN will host “Recovery Housing” on September 8th. The Central East ATTC follows with the presentations “Recovery Friendly Workplaces” on September 15th and “The Role of Faith and Hope in Recovery” on September 22nd.
