What: |
Recent prevention strategies are embracing a multi-faceted approach to control of the HIV pandemic. These include educational approaches, behavioral approaches, novel methods of prevention, and earlier initiation of HAART as both treatment and prevention. This program will discuss current behavioral and biomedical interventions for prevention of HIV transmission, review the scientific rationale and clinical challenges of the use of antiretroviral agents as prevention, identify high-risk patient populations who may be candidates for such strategies, and discuss ongoing clinical trials with both systemic and mucosal-applied antiretroviral agents for prevention of HIV transmission. |
