In FY27, the Central East PTTC a program of The Danya Institute will provide training and technical assistance specifically in the prevention and mitigation of the misuse of psychedelics. The target audience for this training and technical assistance (T/TA) will be the substance use prevention field, including professionals/pre-professionals, organizations, and others in the prevention community in Health and Human Services (HHS) Region 3: Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. Rapid policy and legal changes, require prevention specialists, healthcare providers, first responders, and behavioral health professionals across region 3 to be able to distinguish between clinical research, FDA-approved treatments (if applicable), state policy initiatives, therapeutic claims, and recreational use. As such, this T/TA will enhance the skills, knowledge and capacity of the HHS prevention field to communicate risks, uncertainties and prevention considerations associated with psychedelic use, particularly among young and other populations of concern.
