VOICES IN UNITY: SHARED STORIES, SHARED STRENGTH

  1. Story Title: More Than One Room, Author: Mariam Mezgeb | In my first year of recovery, I was struggling. The gift of desperation, that jolt of pain sharp enough to make you finally ask for help, had carried me into my first meeting, and it had faded. I was desperate to get it back. “How do I find that again?” I kept asking. No one had an answer for me, other than “stay.” One afternoon, I was in my third recovery meeting of the day. I took that advice quite literally. I knew that if I left that clubhouse, I’d return to drinking, so I stayed in the room. That’s when I came to understand what it means not to leave before the miracle happens. Read Mariam’s Full Story
  2. Story Title: Groundhogs Day, Author: Jeanne Tuono | This personal reflection highlights her  17-year recovery journey following her initial treatment at Livengrin. Through 12-step programs, therapy, and personal accountability, she transformed her relationships with her family and built a fulfilling career helping others. Read Jeanne’s Full Story
  3. Story Title: No Single Path: A Story of Personal Recovery,  Author: Emily Kane | “Centering people in their own recovery can be incredibly empowering… While that may look different depending on each person’s circumstances, providers and public health practitioners should equip themselves with a wide variety of options to offer individualized and unique recovery support.” Read Emily’s Full Story
